Salvation

WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?

This is the most important question any person will ever ask. In this question is the thought of "Where will I spend eternity? Is there an after life? Is there something more than just this present life as I know it?"

If you are not from a Christian background, and even if you are, you should go to the following link to read and study the basics of the Christian, Bible based faith; THIS WE BELIEVE.

The Bible tells us that we are all in need of forgiveness. When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden and fell from grace their sin was imputed to all of us. We are born with a sin nature. Thus Paul the Apostle tells us in Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

This sin nature is the source of the great problems that abound in our society today. It is man's nature to do that which is wrong. Greed, violence, hatred, murder, stealing, lying and many other things are a direct result of this sin nature that was imputed to us through Adam. We are in need of salvation, restoration and eternal life.

What is the choice other than eternal life? It is eternal death. Scripture tells us that there is a place of eternal punishment which it calls Hell. That word which is used in cursing by so many is actually the name of the place of eternal punishment. It is a horrible place of burning, pain and hopelessness. I wouldn't want to go there. But according to the Bible there are only two choices; eternal life with Jesus or eternal death with Satan. The choice is yours.

So how do you find the "eternal life" that Christians talk about? Actually it is very simple. Man has complicated it, but in reality it is very simple.

  • First of all, you must confess Jesus Christ....Romans 10:9-13 KJVR
    (9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
    (10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
    (11) For the Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
    (12) For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
    (13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

  • Isn't that wonderful? You simply confess to the Lord Jesus Christ that you believe he died and that he, like no other man, rose again and is today alive sitting at the right hand of the Father making intercession for you. You see, Jesus hears you when you pray. The beginning is just this, "Jesus, I believe that you were born of the virgin Mary, that you lived on this earth proving that you were in fact the son of God, that you died and that on the third day you rose again. Forgive me of my sins and come into my life and live with me."

  • Congratulations! If you prayed that prayer in sincerity you are saved. No question about it. Jesus has forgiven you of all past sins and has placed your name in the Lamb's Book of Life. If you were to die right now you would spend eternity with the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Now that you have received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior there are other steps that you must begin to take...

    1. Water baptism in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.... Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

    2. Turn from sin... We are living in a world where the church is teaching that you must sin. Many preachers are teaching a life of sin, but the Bible tells us to turn from sin and to be sorry for it and not to continue therein. Please read the following scripture and you will know that you are to turn from sin....Galatians 5:19-21 KJVR
      (19) Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
      (20) Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
      (21) Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

    3. Now you need to begin to read your Bible. If you use a computer I strongly suggest you download a wonderful Bible program which is free. Just click on this LINK. The program is called E-Sword and it is a wonderful study tool You also need a copy of the Bible in book form to use.

    4. Now comes the hard part; finding a BIBLE BELIEVING CHURCH! In some areas this can be very, very difficult. Many churches say they believe the Bible, but they really don't. They believe some of it, but it is not the absolute rule for their ministry. Religion is one of the greatest traps that Satan has. Unfortunately many religions are just that; RELIGION. I suggest that you be very careful about becoming involved with TV ministry. While there may be some teaching there that is Biblical, much of it isn't. Being a new Christian, you may have great difficulty discerning the difference. Your Bible is always right. ALWAYS! If you begin attending a church you will be able to observe how they live, worship and whether or not their teaching agrees with your Bible. The church you go to should believe the basics of the article "THIS WE BELIEVE" including the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with speaking in tongues. If you have your study Bible with you it will not be too difficult for you to follow along with the teaching/preaching and decide if it is Biblical.
